Carl Randall at Art Volta, Basel

Carl is showing a large painting made in Japan, ‘Tokyo Portrait,’  at ‘Art Volta’ 10, Basel, Switzerland. June 16th – 21st.  
Art Volta runs alongside Art Basel, one of the world’s largest and most prestigious art fairs. The painting is being exhibited with The Berloni Gallery, London.
He has also just exhibited ‘Hibakusha Portraits’, a series of 6 drawings made in Hiroshima of survivors of the Atomic Bomb, at University College London Museum, as part of the museum's permanent collection.

Pippa Ridley

Pippa is showing work at Thomas Williams Fine Art, in the exhibition 'Colour / Figure: Works from 1960 to the present day'.
The exhibition is open now until Friday 27th June. Monday - Friday 10 - 6pm.

Bow Arts Open Studios

Bow Arts Open Studios is happening next weekend, Friday 27th (6 - 9pm) and Saturday 28th (1 - 5pm) June.

"The Bow Arts Open is the highlight of our events calendar and a chance to show off the amazing talent and enthusiasm of our community of over 400 artists. This community embraces visual artists, sculptors, designers and craftspeople and the Open provides an opportunity to throw open the doors and embrace the wider creative community and general public.This year's Open is taking a slightly different format to previous years. The Bow Road and P1 Open Studios takes place in June, followed by the SE1 Open Studios and Open Show later in September down in Bermondsey."

Harriet Piercy exhibition

Harriet is showing her recent work in her exhibition 'Portraits of Place' at Kevis House in Petworth, Sussex.

Harriet was selected to be the artist in residence at the 2012 'Works on Paper Fair' at the Science Museum, organised and sponsored by the directors of Kevis House Gallery. The directors have invited Harriet to hold a solo show at the gallery as they were interested to see how her work has developed in the intervening two years.
"Working across a number of locations, Harriet's current work explores the effect of time on lived-in landscapes. She is interested in the changing identities of built environments - their histories, textures and characters that inhabit them. "

RA Schools Final Year Exhibition

The RA Schools Show is coming up.

NB: They will be closed on 4 June from 1pm and all day on 17 and 23 June.

"The RA Schools Show is the annual exhibition of works by final year students at the Royal Academy Schools, the first art school in Britain. Held in the studio spaces of the Schools the exhibition invites students to show works developed over a three-year period of post graduate study, providing visitors with a rare opportunity to view and buy exceptional pieces from an emerging generation of new artists."

Anna Ilsley at STORE

Anna would love to see you at STORE on Friday for the opening of TEMPLE OF LUSTS. 

As artist in residence at STORE during May Anna has developed a new body of work begun during her residency at the British School in Athens. With giant paper cut-outs she is (from ceiling to floor) creating a mythological, legendary landscape inspired by medieval painted churches. Using the local Treadwells bookshop (specialists of the banned, burned and ridiculed literature) to search for myths and characters, the current cast include Queens of tragedy Sarah Siddons as Boudica, Lady Godiva as herself and Tina Turner as Compere. 

Private View Friday 6th June from 6-10 p.m. If you want to come but cant make the PV please e-mail annailsley at googlemail.com. The show will be open by appointment for two weeks.

The Derwant Art Prize

The prize offers a total of £12,650 and is open to artists over 18 throughout the world.

They accept work using graphite, charcoal, pastel, watersoluble or coloured pencils.
An exhibition of shortlisted works will be on show in September 2014 at the Mall Galleries, The Mall, London SW1.

The deadline is 9th June 2014.
