rather share. Very quiet with a small window but enough light. The rent is £180

Lucas Reynes-Matter writes:
'One of my studio mates is moving out of our studio in Bermondsey in
November and myself and George Colley (who also did the drawing year) are on the
lookout for someone to fill the space.
It is rather short term as the studio block will be turned into flats next
year so we will only have the space till March 2015 but it is a very nice, large
space with plenty of natural light and nice views over South-East London. It is
very close to Bermondsey Street and not far from London Bridge or Bermondsey
Stations. The rent is about £120 per month and will be shared with George and
myself - both drawing year alumni.'

Daniel MacCarthey
Dan MacCarthy is setting off on a pilgrimage of sorts to Santiago de Compestela.
Starting from a Marina in Ipswich, he will sail to the city of Gijon with three
others and from there make his way, as much as possible on foot to the pilgrimage
city. He will be keeping a drawing journal of the walk which he will upload upon
its completion. Once he has left the city of Santiago de Compostela, he will
return by boat from Bilbao to Brittany and from there by more conventional
transport back to the UK. In order to finance this trip he has made a series of
small paintings and prints. These can be found on his website: http://danielmaccarthy.tumblr.com/
If you would like to help him on his way and buy something please email him at daniellouismaccarthy (at) gmail.com and he will remove the image from the gallery. This may not occur until he disembarks in Gijon or elsewhere along the route. The work will be delivered or posted to you as soon as he returns in September.

Kathryn Maple wins Sunday Times Watercolour Competition 2014
Congratulations to Kathryn who has won First Prize in the Sunday Times Watercolour Competition 2014.
Louis Wise of the Sunday Times writes that "Maple’s astonishing work looks as if it was conceived in the Deep South, but Fat Boy’s is, in fact, a cafe right by where she works, in Trinity Buoy Wharf, far out in east London. She even has lunch there sometimes. Maple, from Maidstone, Kent, is fond of the “odd and out of place in life”, and this slice of Americana in E14 fits the bill. The work is large enough (116cm x 86cm), but small by her standards; she builds each painting up by layering over time and, as this picture shows, is happy to use watercolours in a variety of ways."

Georgina Sleap looking for a studio
Georgie Sleap misssleap@hotmail.co.uk is hunting for a studio space - perhaps you or someone you know may be able to help?
"I'm looking for a room that is:
"I'm looking for a room that is:
Around 180ft.
In south London, or not too far north of river. I live Herne Hill and work in Wimbledon, so way out east is far
from ideal.
As cheap as possible,
obviously. I can't pay more than around 170 a month.
I will have to move by mid
October.
I am tidy in my work habits
but use materials which are messy: powder pigment and pourable rubber have left
my current floor covered in black splodges with a permagreen tinge, so I need
four walls round me, but am not fussy about what they are made of. I'm used to
cold studios and am not super fussed about hot and cold running Internet.
Somewhere on the ground floor would be ideal. A decent lift or at least wide
stairs would be fine too.
I'd be really grateful if you
could let me know of anything that springs to mind. Even if it's a bit much or a
bit far, is available now or not till November, it would be great to get a
sense of what's around."
