bright space on the ground floor of a block of studios just off Coldharbour Lane;
between Brixton and Camberwell (Loughborough Junction). He is very rarely in
there at the moment and so you would have it all to yourself most of the time.
The space is
around 210 square feet but also has an outside area of just under 100 square

Abbey Awards
The
Abbey Scholarship and Abbey Fellowships offer all-expenses-paid
Residency in Rome, with a stipend of up to £700 a month for the Scholar
and £800 for Fellows. The nine-month Abbey Scholarship is usually given
to an emergent painter, while the three-month Abbey Fellowships are
awarded to mid-career painters. Abbey Awards are open to people of UK
and US nationality, and to citizens of other countries provided that
they have lived in the UK or the US for at least 5 years. There is no

Anna won the British School at Athens Bursary 2013. She has just gone to Athens where she will be making work about the seers at Delphi. The Prince's Drawing School is now calling for submissions for the India Teaching Residency 2013. There are
places for 4 alumni to go on the 10 week residency starting early
October 2013 and ending late December 2013. To apply please

BP Portrait Award
David Caldwell, Sophie Levi, Freddy Clark (whose portrait of Josh is pictured above), Carl Randall, Clara Drummond and tutor Julie Held are exhibiting in this year's BP Portrait Award Exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery. David's piece is 77 small portraits all done from short sittings with friends, many of whom are Drawing Year alumni. Show opens 20th June and continues until 15 September.

Carl Randall
Carl was the recipient of the BP Travel Award 2012, his series of paintings “In the footsteps of Hiroshige: The Tokaido Highway and Portraits of Modern Japan” will be on display at The National Portrait Gallery June 20th – September 15th. The paintings were made on a journey along the route connecting Tokyo and Kyoto which was famously documented by the Japanese Woodblock Printer Ando Hiroshige in 1832.
