Carl Randall Exhibition Berloni Gallery

Lastly, ‘Tokyo Portrait’ (a large canvas made in Japan) has been purchased by Fondation Carmignac, Paris France, joining works in the permanent collection other by other artists such as Andy Warhol, Basquait, Roy Lichenstein, Jeff Koons, Gerhard Richter.

Carl Randall exhibition at Hiroshige Museum, Japan

Carl is showing 14 paintings in a solo exhibition in Japan, alongside the work of Hiroshige: 'Tokaido Highway: Portraits from Edo to the Present' at The Shizouka City Tokaido Hiroshige Museum, Shizouka, Japan.

The Shizouka City Tokaido Hiroshige Museum is dedicated to the work of renowned Japanese printmaker Ando Hiroshige, and Carl's paintings will be exhibited alongside his original woodblock prints.  The 14 oil paintings to be exhibited were commissioned by the National Portrait Gallery as part of the 2012 BP travel Award; touring to London, Aberdeen and Wolverhampton, and this is the first time the paintings will be shown in Japan.

Carl is giving an Artist's Talk at the museum, Sunday 13 July, 1 - 2pm, in conversation with Hitoshi Iwasaki, Advisor of the Hiroshige Museum & Chief Curator of the Tobacco & Salt Museum, Tokyo. He is  also giving workshops on other dates.

Carl Randall at Art Volta, Basel

Carl is showing a large painting made in Japan, ‘Tokyo Portrait,’  at ‘Art Volta’ 10, Basel, Switzerland. June 16th – 21st.  
Art Volta runs alongside Art Basel, one of the world’s largest and most prestigious art fairs. The painting is being exhibited with The Berloni Gallery, London.
He has also just exhibited ‘Hibakusha Portraits’, a series of 6 drawings made in Hiroshima of survivors of the Atomic Bomb, at University College London Museum, as part of the museum's permanent collection.

Carl Randall

Carl was the recipient of the BP Travel Award 2012, his series of paintings “In the footsteps of Hiroshige: The Tokaido Highway and Portraits of Modern Japan” will be on display at The National Portrait Gallery June 20th – September 15th. The paintings were made on a journey along the route connecting Tokyo and Kyoto which was famously documented by the Japanese Woodblock Printer Ando Hiroshige in 1832.

The Art Cellar

Judith Green, Tim Betjeman, Daniel Preece, Anna Ilsley, Thomas Robinson, Jonathan Farr, Will Roper Curzon, Anthony Banks exhibited work in a pop up event called the Art Cellar, in part organized by alumnus Maxwell Graham. Carl Randall

Carl Randall (Drawing Year 2002-3) has won The Nomura Painting Prize in Tokyo, Japan, for his painting 'Roppongi Nightclub' (shown above) The prize is organised by Tokyo University of the Arts (Tokyo Geijutsu Daigaku). 

In 2003 Carl was awarded the Daiwa Scholarship followed by a Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship and has been based in Tokyo since then. His new Japan paintings and drawings will be exhibited in London in a solo exhibition at The Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation, Japan House (January – March 2014). Antonia Bruce

Antonia Bruce (student 2003/4) put together an exhibition looking at the role of faith in the healing process. It is called Infinitas Gracias and is the Miracles part of Miracles and Charms which is  currently showing at Wellcome Collection, on Euston Road until the end of Feb 2012. It features votive paintings from Mexico showing miraculous happenings in peoples lives.
